About Seiko

The Seiko story begins in 1881 with a small clock shop in Tokyo, Japan. Starting with just 10 employees, Seiko products were hand-crafted until mass production techniques were implemented in 1914 to meet international demand. In 1938, over 1 million watches were made and distributed.

Over the course of the next century, Seiko began introducing new technology into their products, including self-winding mechanisms, transistors and quartz. It is innovation and technology drive Seiko, as evidenced by their 1984 introduction of the first wristwatch computer.
